In this time frame the Holy Spirit is training the Bride to tap into the sound of heaven, by simply becoming still, shutting out the noise of our own thinking and the bombardment of the negative streams around us.
We all know that the power of death and life is in the tongue and we will eat the fruit of every word we speak (Prov.18 21). That is actually a frightening thought. The law of sowing and reaping is very real. Yet, we often fall into the trap of speaking negative things which we do not want, defiling ourselves. In this process the anointing leaks out and we lose ground to the enemy, empowering him to wreak havoc and steal from us.
So how do we maintain the status of speaking life?
"As a man thinks in his heart, so is he" (Prov.23:7)
Every word we speak is a result of what we are thinking. So it starts with setting our minds on things above, not on things on the earth (Col.3:3). The mind therefore has to be trained and disciplined to focus on God's glory, tapping into the stream of the Spirit, thinking only on these things:
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Phil.4:8
King David says to the Lord, "You have tried my heart; You have visited me by night; You have tested me and You find nothing; I have purposed that my mouth will not transgress." (Ps.17:3)
The thing that caught my attention here is that David "purposed" with his will that his mouth will not transgress. We have the help of the Holy Spirit to empower us to take every thought captive in obedience to Christ. Therefore, although we make a decision with our will, we still put our reliance on the power of the Holy Spirit, not acting in self-power, which is a curse.
As we purpose to fast from all negative speaking, only tuning in to what the Lord is saying, our words will carry the weight of heaven, bringing breakthrough and setting a new standard, shifting situations into Kingdom reality.
Let this be our prayer: Father, I come to You in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Lord, forgive me for every negative word I have uttered. Wipe out the effect of it with Your precious blood, Lord and cleanse my heart and my mouth with Your blood, Lord. I purpose that my mouth will not transgress. Help me, Holy Spirit to constrain my lips from speaking evil. I want to speak life only, building, encouraging and bringing hope.
I purpose to listen in to hear what You are saying Father, before I open my mouth, declaring and decreeing what You are saying about every situation and every person. I consecrate myself now to to speak in accordance with Your Word only, Father God for Your glory - in Jesus' Name. Amen.
Psalm 19:14(NKJV)
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
